The Language Accessory Pack contains the display and proofing tools for most languages, but you can still choose to have your display in one language and editing or authoring in another. Excellent Arabic Tutor This app is more than just a dictionary that gives a definition to words. It also helps to know the grammatical position of a given word, pronunciation, and sometimes demonstrates how to use the word in a sentence. Some dictionaries can be downloaded and used offline. I use this on a regular basis and in multiple languages.

LingoPad is a free offline dictionary for Windows.

LingoPad contains a German ↔ English dictionary; other dictionaries (Spanish, Italian, French, Japanese, Chinese, Turkish, Kurdish, Norwegian or Arabic) can be downloaded as well. You can also import your own wordlists and use them parallel to the existing dictionaries. For each dictionary, a user dictionary can be defined to include additional wordlists.

The program is freeware and can be downloaded and used free of charge.

Attention: LingoPad 2.6 has some improvements, however direct translations with hotkey or mouse click do not work properly anymore. If you are hapy with the version 2.5.1 functions and use the hotkey/mouse click feature, you better not update to version 2.6. Here you can download LingoPad 2.5.1.

Further development

There will be no further development of LingoPad under Windows in the near future. However, we are planning to develop cross-platform LingoPad for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows.

18/5 - 2015: Update version 1.7.1 of the iPhone version is now available in the App store, but some issues causing crashesare still present in this version. We have submitted another update, version 1.7.2, to the App store which should fix the remainingcrashes and have asked Apple to review and publish it as soon as possible.
